Ana w hu - 6

The end of - Our First Summer

Recap: Went out with him for the first time ever. School was coming up.

Everything went on as per usual, texts all day and phone calls all night. We were getting closer to one another with each day. I’ve only been talking to him during the summer, but now school was starting in a few days, so I was wondering how it’d be like what with us both being in the same school and all.

The night before school I went out with my friend to buy some school stuff. We went to maktabat Dbai lil tawzee3 :p . This was a few years ago but its funny how I now remember everything with such intricate detail. I remember him jokingly texting asking me to buy him a pencil case, and how he acted so serious about it as if I was really meant to lol.

Anyhow, I went to the stationary, got some school stuff, passed by McDonalds Al Bustan to grab some dinner and went home. I was eating in front of the TV in my room and we were texting when I got a message from his saying he was online (I was too). So I went to my laptop and he called me. Somebody decided that we were going to video chat! It was so weird, I didn’t like video chats. Anyways, I did turn the cam on, but I was too shy. I was looking the other way.

‘Turn around’

‘No, it’s OK.’

‘Yallah 3aadh 7abebe 5alny aba ashooofch’

‘Maba, chy OK!’

And so on, until I finally faced the screen. I was wearing a white t-shirt with a clown on it from Zara.

‘Shu ha 3a 9adrich, wardih?’

‘La, it’s a clown’

‘Aha, 3ady –censored speech-‘

I turned around again!

We talked the entire night, until the morning. The bed was behind me.

‘Yallah 7abebe seery 6ee7y 3a hay elshbryih ely wrach wragdeeny’ I remember his distinct voice softly telling me.

We had this ritual every night, where I’d [virtually] put him to bed, knt aragdih kl yoom, w hu yragdny. Maknna nroom nrgd bdoon b3a’6. W yoom kna nrgd, kna ntim 3al 5a6 lain i9ib7. Kl yom, kl yom, lazm ykoon 9otih a5ir shay asma3h gabl ma argid.

You see that, we used to have that every night, it seems so gay and mushy lol, but it was fun, and we really did mean everything we said. Nobody will ever know how much in love we were, we were kids, true, but we did love each other, or liked each other very very very very much at least.

We had that daily mushy night time talk, with much more to say, but I don’t want to bore you with it, and we then fell asleep together, with the line still on, until the next morning, the first day of school. The first day of school w ana w hu wya b3a'6.
